Job Description:
The successful candidate will work with DiNatale Water licensed professional engineer staff and assist with any of the following: • Water rights engineering o Water rights applications o Historical consumptive use analyses o Augmentation plan development o Alternatives analyses o Support on expert opinion disclosures o Litigation support o Water rights opposition work • Water allocation modeling o Development and use of water allocation models using various modeling platforms including RiverWare, Excel, MODSIM, StateMod and others o Development of model scenarios and analysis of model results o Water rights and operational scenario modeling o Risk and resiliency modeling, including future conditions under climate change or differing inter-state compact conditions • Water supply planning o Water supply planning and management o Water demand studies o Potable and non-potable water planning o Permitting support o Groundwater resources and conjunctive use of surface water and groundwater o Water treatment options • Water supply system operations o Daily water system operations, both during the work week and for limited hours weekends as part of a rotating on-call team, including: Requesting water deliveries from multiple sources at specified times verbally and via e-mail Communicating with water commissioners, ditch riders, clients, and other water rights operators Keeping track of multiple water operations across a large geographic area Sending out daily reports on operations Using Excel to track and follow operations Communicating daily with the rest of the operations and accounting team o Operational protocol development o Water accounting management and development • Water quality field and analysis work o Field work including water quality sampling and flow measurement o Analysis of temporal and spatial water quality trends o Visual representation of water quality results o Analysis and development of reservoir water quality models
Experience Required:
DiNatale Water Consultants is seeking a water resources engineer with 1 to 5+ years of experience to assist with multiple water resources projects. The successful candidate will have experience in water resource engineering, including surface water modeling, Colorado water rights, knowledge of groundwater principals and modeling, and water quality field work and analysis. Technical proficiency with Excel and an understanding of the Colorado water rights system is required. Qualifications • BS degree required and MS degree preferred, preferable in civil engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology, water resources or other related discipline • 1 to 5+ years of experience with Colorado water resources and water rights system, water administration, including close familiarity with Colorado geography and water-related infrastructure • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong time management skills • Advanced Excel skills • Proficiency with MS Office applications, online databases including Colorado Decision Support System (CDSS), GIS skills, and general IT skills are a plus • Professional Engineer registration or plans to obtain in the near future

•Technical responsibilities will include water supply planning, water resources modeling, historical consumptive use analyses, water rights evaluations and analyses, raw water master plans, water efficiency plans, water operations and accounting, expert testimony in water court, and writing technical memos and reports. •Management of projects, budgets, and quality control. •Coordination and communication with other staff, attorneys, and clients. •Senior staff will be responsible for mentoring and training junior staff in technical, communication, and management skills, in addition to fostering a supportive growth environment.
Experience Required:
•2-10+ years of experience working in the water resources field. •Some knowledge of Colorado water rights and water supply planning and/or water supply modeling is required. •Applicants should be adept in excel, Geographical Information Systems, and have good technical writing skills. Experience in VBA is a plus. •Good written and verbal communication skills. •Open to career growth and training. •The ability to build relationships with clients and others at M&W, promote a team environment, be a self-starter, and ability to prioritize workload and projects for yourself and others is essential. •A master’s degree is preferred but not required. •A professional engineer license or professional hydrologist license or being on a career track to obtain a license is preferred. •Starting salary will range from $75,000 to $130,000 per year. Salary is based on the experience and qualifications of the applicant.

The successful candidate will work with Larimer and Weld staff and assist with any of the following: • Daily management of canal water supplies; direct river flow deliveries • Daily management of reservoir water supplies; filling and releases • Coordination of canal operations with River Commissioner, Field Manager, and Ditch Riders • Responsible for collecting and managing operational and water quality data from a variety of data collection platforms • Managing and reporting decree water accounting forms • Evaluating supply delivery alternatives and propose system improvements • Seek rental water from basin sources • Regular scheduled field work including snowpack water measurements, water quality sampling, and canal or ditch flowrate measurements • Ability to construct and run operational computer models of the ditch system and Cache la Poudre River • Apply streamflow forecasts into Company diversion yield projections • Providing water resources updates to Board of Directors
Experience Required:
• Minimum of four (4) years experience in water resources, irrigation engineering, water rights, agriculture systems, hydrology, project management, or hydraulics • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering (Agricultural, Water Resources, Civil, Environmental), or Natural Resources (Water Resources, Hydrology, Geology, Soil/Crop Science, Water Quality) • Knowledge of Colorado water law and principles of Colorado water rights • Knowledge of irrigation canal and reservoir delivery operations • Knowledge of on-farm irrigation delivery systems • Knowledge of agricultural farming practices • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and Teams • Familiarity with Google Earth or ArcGIS • Ability to work independently • Ability to solve complex operational problems • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical employees and others • Excellent attention to detail • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
